Classic Green Juice
Have you ever tried starting your morning with homemade raw green juice? If you’re looking to give your body some amazing glow power each morning, this recipe is for you! I was definitely one of those people who always thought that green juice was only for “those crazies” on cleanses, but never actually gave them a try myself. A few months into changing my diet, however, I decided to give them a chance and quickly became obsessed. I’m so excited to share this recipe with you because it’s a great, simple building block for all your green juicing adventures. This recipe requires just 4 ingredients that you very likely have in your fridge right now and is totally easy to throw together on a busy morning before work!
You’ve probably heard all the buzz about green juices and have seen a few juice bars popping up around your city in the past few years and have been wondering what all the hype is about. Drinking a green is just about the most amazing thing you can do for your body. The difference between juicing and blending is that juicing removes the fiber from fruits and veggies, leaving the gorgeous juice liquid behind. Blending, however, keeps all the fibers of your ingredients together and purees them up into an amazing smoothie. The idea with juicing is that I it gives you an enormous dose of veggies and all their amazingness (antioxidants, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals) without asking your body to do any hard work. They’re so amazing for starting your day because they boost your body with all the goodness it needs while still allowing it to fully wake up.
I love how I feel when I drink this amazing juice. It’s a fantastic energy booster that is extremely alkaline and helps to reduce inflammation in your body and helps with your digestion. The chlorophyll in the juice really does give you an amazing glow! What this means is that it helps to increase red cell production, which boost oxygen in your blood and makes you a lean mean nutrient-delivering machine. The cucumber is totally refreshing and goes wonderfully with the sweetness of the apples and subtle flavor of the cucumber and kale. Another great benefit of making your juices at home is that it saves you some major mula. Storebought green juices can top $15 with extra boosts and can quickly rack up quite the bill if you begin to incorporate them into your daily diet. Making your juice in the morning does mean that you’ll need to get up that extra 10 minutes early, but it’s so worth it. Washing your fruits and veggies each morning and prepping them for the juicer can be a joy because you’ll know it’s a part of doing something amazing for your body.
This green juice is an amazing base and is just waiting for you to customize it with extra goodness like ginger, turmeric, beet, and more!
3 bunches kale
3 stalks celery
This baby is so easy it’s unbelievable. Just wash the fruits and veggies and either chop before adding them to the juicer or add them whole depending on your model, then enjoy! I love carrying these one the road with me in a mason jar and adding a cute straw for fun. Juices are at their most nutritionally potent in the first half hour or so after they’re made, but you’ll still get some amazing benefits from them if you keep them in the fridge for enjoyment a few hours later in the day.
